Opening a d.o.o. in Bosnia and Herzegovina costs far less in state fees than in most of the EU. What makes the total vary is mainly what happens outside Bosnia — your documents — and whether you use a service provider. Here is every item.
1. State and notary costs in Bosnia
| Item | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| Court registration fee | BAM 150–200 |
| Notary certification of the founding act | BAM 200–300 |
| Tax number and statistics registration | no state fee |
| Company stamp | BAM 30–50 |
| Total in Bosnia | about BAM 400–550 (≈ €200–280) |
2. Share capital — not a cost
A d.o.o. needs at least BAM 1,000 (≈ €511) in share capital. It is paid into the company’s bank account and stays the company’s money. See minimum share capital.
3. Documents from your country
If you form the company without travelling, you need:
- notarisation of your passport copy and signature on the power of attorney — set by your local notary;
- an apostille on each document — usually €10–40 per document, depending on the country;
- sworn translation into Bosnian — around €20–40 per page;
- courier to Sarajevo — €30–60.
Founders with a foreign company as owner also need a register extract of that company, apostilled and translated.
4. Professional fees
You can, in theory, do everything yourself in Bosnian. In practice, foreign founders use a provider who drafts the documents, represents them and deals with the authorities. Our fee is €2,490 one-time, and it includes the state and notary costs in section 1. Packages with the first 6 or 12 months of accounting, registered address and administration cost €3,999 and €5,990. Every item is listed on our pricing page.
Example: one founder from Germany
| Cost | |
|---|---|
| Formation package incl. state and notary fees in Bosnia | €2,490 |
| Notary and apostille in Germany | ≈ €60–100 |
| Sworn translation | ≈ €40–80 |
| Courier | ≈ €40 |
| Total cost | ≈ €2,630–2,710 |
| Share capital (stays with the company) | €511 |
